A Gentle Slicker Brush that Works!
This is the slicker brush I use most often for detangling. The pins are firm enough to work through tangles effectively, yet flexible enough to reduce pulling compared to traditional slicker brushes. The pins also tend to work down all the way to the skin better than some others I have used. If you find yourself brushing over tangles, this brush alongside a good metal comb will probably do wonders.
A Metal Comb that Works!
There are many combs out there and they mostly look pretty much the same. Shockingly, they don't all work well. To detect tangles with a comb, it must have perfectly sized and perfectly spaced teeth that go through thick hair and reach down to the skin. My personal favorite comb is 20 years old and discontinued, but I tested this comb out recently and it's one of the good ones and I feel comfortable recommending it.
Deshedding Rake
Designed to remove loose undercoat with minimal impact on the topcoat. Works best on medium-length coats. Use with care—this is a professional-grade tool and should not be overused. It is possible to remove too much hair and cause skin irritation. When used correctly though, it’s highly effective for reducing undercoat buildup.
Slip On Harness
Sick of the jigsaw puzzle harnesses? Struggle no more... This style actually slips on without any guesswork and clicks into place with a single click. It's also pretty hard for pets to slip out of. I use the Xtra small one on my 8lb Maltese Sprite, but they come in all sizes. The little handle is nice too for hanging onto wiggly pets. This particular one comes with a nice leash and optional service dog patches that are velcro/easily removed if your pet is not a service dog.
Artero Pretty Eyes
Artero Pretty Eyes is the most effective eye crust remover I’ve ever used. Simply apply to stubborn eye buildup, let it sit for a minute or two, then gently work it out with your fingers or a plastic flea comb. The crust usually softens and slides out easily—almost like magic. Unlike other products I’ve tried, it leaves no odor or sticky residue behind.
Slip Lead / Lasso Leash
This is the leash I use on my big dog, Opus—and I get asked about it all the time! It works like a lasso that gently tightens when needed, with a stopper to prevent it from getting too tight. It’s quick to slip on and more secure than a standard collar and leash setup. Right now it’s buy one, get one free and comes in several colors (I picked black and silver).
Plastic Flea Comb
I don't recommend these for flea removal, but plastic flea combs are nice for removing debris from the corners of dogs eyes. Plastic ones are gentle and flexible.
A Bully Stick Holder
Chew safely: Bully sticks and collagen sticks are GREAT for scraping the plaque off dog's back molars. A bully stick holder grips the end so your dog can’t swallow the last chunk—helping prevent a dangerous choking risk.
Zoom Groom
Zoom Groom Brush: Ideal for short-haired breeds like pugs, corgis, and chihuahuas, this brush helps lift and remove loose topcoat to reduce shedding. (For de-shedding, not detangling.) I recommend the large size only—the smaller version has softer bristles that don’t perform as effectively.
